Findability

Findability is just what it sounds like; the ability to find.

Findability is applicable to any situation where someone is looking for something, whether that “thing” is a location, building, person, particularly if they’re looking online.

For internet retailers, there are 2 aspects of Findability that are relevant:

  1. How findable are my products online?
  2. How findable are my products on my own website?

How Findable are my products online: is my “Needle” in the Global “Haystack?”

Most e-retailers want their websites to show up on the first page of Google search results. When that happens, customers have found you.

This aspect of Findability is known as Search Engine Optimization (SEO), something we all know about. Two of our favorite SEO resources are Search Engine Watch and Heather Lutze’s The Findability Formula.

How Findable are my products on my own website: is the Customer’s “Needle'” in my own “Haystack?”

Once a customer has found your website, can she easily find what she wants, assuming you carry it?

SEO is a hot area of study and immensely important. But finding your website is far less useful to the customer if the products she’s interested in are too hard to find.

How do you know if you’re frustrating your potential customers this way? FindWAtt can do a review of your site and pinpoint the problems.

There are several consequences of having bad findability. FindWAtt's solution ensures structured product data that has been cleaned, and extended with lots of attribute value pairs.
